Confirmation Date Set: Thursday, 12 June 2008

Yes! It's true, the Confirmation Liturgy date has been set!!!

Thursday, 12 June 2008
at 7:00 PM

We will have a rehearsal the night before, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 7:00 PM in the church.

Both Wednesday for practice and Thursday, Sponsors and Candidates need to in attendance. Also, on the night of the Confirmation itself, I ask that Sponsor and Candidate be there at 6:15 PM. This will give people plenty of time to have calm nerves and so I can make sure everyone is there.

Tahoe 2008: Quest for the Hidden Treasure

Every summer, for the past twelve years, the Diocese of San José’s Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministry has held a Diocesan Youth retreat in Lake Tahoe. This summer will be the thirteenth Tahoe retreat, and its theme is: Quest for the Hidden Treasure, and will be held June 16th through June 20th.

During this retreat, hundreds of Youth from parishes all over the Diocese gather together at Zephyr Cove in Lake Tahoe for Catholic Christian fellowship, to give praise, thanks, and worship God, to see the many ways we have to express our faith, and to see that their Catholic faith truly is universal.

High points of the retreat are sunset Masses, music, plays, spending time with other teens, and of course seeing the true face of the Young Church of the Diocese of San José. There are games, time at the beach, more food than you could possible imagine, time to meet new people, and teens will even get a t-shirt to remember their time in Tahoe.

This year, our very own, 3toLive!®, High School Youth Ministry will be taking part in this celebration of our Young Church. If you are or have a teen who is interested in going on this retreat there will be two information meeting, Tuesday, March 18th at 7:00 PM in the Middle School’s Teen Center and Saturday, March 22nd, at 1:00 PM in the Parish Hall.

This retreat is open to current 8th through 12th graders from both public and private schools. Space is limited and is first come, first serve. Our deadline for reserving your spot on this retreat trip is Sunday, March 30th.

This trip will leave you with memories of a lifetime. For more information please come to our information sessions or contact me, Bruno Martínez at 408.869.8254 or bmartinez@saintlawrence.org.

Candidate Meeting, Sunday, 9 March 2008

Don't forget we have a meeting on Sunday, 9 March 2008 at 3:30PM in the Parish Hall.

Please, please, please let me know by then if you can participate in the Holy Thursday Mass. Also if you have any outstanding paper work, times up, bring it in.

Have a great week.

What do we believe - the Creed

The Nicene Creed is something we, as the Ministers of the Assembly, say at most Eucharistic Celebrations (the Mass), but how much of it do we take for granted? Or just recite it mindlessly? It's pretty easy to just fall into the groove and not pay attention to the words we say. But we should pay attention and here's why:

First, it is full of 'We's' and that is important to our faith. At Mass, WE as the Assembly, are the primary ministers. Our fait exists in community, we are not alone.

Second, it helps and reminds us that it is the Most Holy Trinity what we come to worship.

Third, it helps us to see all the things Christ did for us, to model for us and give us the tools to establish the Kingdom of God, Love, Forgive, Serve without regard for our ourselves, but for the greater good of the Kingdom.

Fourth, it reminds us that it is our Baptism that is our call into the Ministry of Christ, which is the Church.

All the good stuff is right there and with so much more. Here is this Creed, written and revised in the 4th Century is still relevant, still a living, breathing document. How great is our Church, that it can give us this gift, the revelation of the Holy Spirit, that has lasted, and will last until the end of time.
